2016 – 2017 ERASMUS+ STAFF MOBILITY

Erasmus Staff Mobility enables the instructors of a higher education institution which holds an ECHE (Erasmus Charter for Higher Education) to lecture at a higher education institution holding an ECHE in another country on condition of teaching at least 8 hours for a period of maximum 6 weeks in one academic year. It also enables academic and administrative staff of a higher education institution holding an ECHE and staff working at enterprises to get∕provide training at higher education institutions or enterprises holding an ECHE.

Erasmus Staff Mobility is divided into 2 sub-categories:

  1. Teaching Mobility
  2. Training Mobility


1.Teaching Mobility

Teaching Staff Mobility allows the lecturers at a higher education institution holding an ECHE in Turkey to teach at a higher aducation institution holding an ECHE in one of the programme countries, and to perform academic/educational activities in collaboration with the partner institution as part of lecturing. In the scope of Teaching Staff Mobility, the staff working at an established enterprise located in one of the programme countries may be invited to lecture at a higher education institution holding an ECHE in Turkey. The staff invited to lecture must be employed at an enterprise abroad, educational center, research institution or another institution which meets the definition of enterprise. In this context, institutions -regardless of their sizes, legal statuses and the economic sector they are active in – which carry out all kinds of economic activities including social economy with any public or private establishment meet the definition of enterprise. However, staff from a higher education institution cannot be invited with a grant payment.

Requirements to join Teaching Mobility

  1. To be at least a part-time instructor at a higher education institution which holds an ECHE
  1. Bilateral Agreement established between the Universities (Bilateral Agreement of the department the staff is attached to. Please click the link to see the Bilateral Agreements.)
  1. A teaching programme accepted by both home and host higher education institutions (The teaching programme must be signed by the parties and must involve the general objectives, content and expected consequences of the planned programme.)

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is a must to deliver at least 8 hours of teaching for the activity to be valid.

In Staff Teaching Mobility, if it is understood from the participation certificate that the beneficiaries have carried out activities for less than 2 days and/or have teached for less than they are supposed to do, the activity is deemed invalid and the beneficiary cannot receive any grant payment. Grant payment is for maximum 5 days.

Mobility Deadline is  30 September 2017.

 

2.Training Mobility

Staff Training Mobility allows all staff employed in a higher education institution holding an ECHE in Turkey to get training in one of the programme countries. Within the scope of this activity, the staff may get training in various activities (such as on-the-job training and observation processes) with the objective of developing their skills based on their current jobs. Additionally, conference attendances are not funded under this activity. Within the context of Staff Training Mobility, it is possible for the staff employed in a higher education institution holding an ECHE to get training at an institution of higher education or an enterprise holding an ECHE. The enterprises in which the staff can get training may be an educational center, research institution, Higher Education Institution (not necessary to hold an ECHE) or another institution which meets the definition of enterprise located in a different country. In this context, institutions, regardless of their sizes, legal statuses and the economic sector they are active in, which carry out all kinds of economic activities including social economy with any public or private establishment meet the definition of enterprise. Staff Training Mobility is a full time activity and the grant payment is made for the periods in which full-time training is received.

Requirements to join Staff Training Mobility

  1. To be an academic or administrative staff of a higher education institution holding an ECHE or to work at an enterprise
  2. An agreement between the universities or enterprises is not required.
  1. A work plan accepted by both home and host institutions (The work plan must be signed by the parties and must involve the general objectives, content and expected consequences of the planned programme.)

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is required to get training at the host institution for at least 2 days in order to receive grant after attending Staff Training Mobility. Grant payment is for maximum 5 days.

Mobility Deadline is  30 September 2017.

 

2016/2017 ACADEMIC YEAR STAFF MOBILITY (TRAINING/TEACHING)

2016/2017 Academic Year Staff Selection Criteria:

The selection is made by a commission appointed by the Rectorate of Istanbul Uskudar University considering the annual Calls for Tenders of the European Commission and the national priorities determined annually by the National Agency.

*The points on the main and fill-in lists are listed from the highest to the lowest and evaluation is not based on any criteria point.

*Working period in Uskudar University will be considered in the case that applicants have equal points.

Evaluation Results:

Main and Fill-in Lists will be announced on Uskudar University Web Page and http://erasmus.uskudar.edu.tr within 2 weeks from application deadline on. In case of a budget increase, fill-in candidates will be supported to join the mobility with a grant funding.

Application:

  • Teaching programme (for Teaching Staff Mobility) or a work plan (for Staff Training Mobility) and official invitation letter from the host institution must be uploaded to the system during the application.
  • Acceptance letter from the host institution

2016/2017 Academic Year Staff Mobility Grant Amount:

Daily amount of grant which will be given to the staff benefiting from Erasmus Staff Mobility is determined by the National Agency considering mobility period and life standards of the countries. Amounts in the table below are given in Euro and travel costs are not included.

The highest amount of daily/weekly grant is the calculated amount for total cost of the activities performed by the staff and the partner institution during the teaching programme in scope of Teaching Mobility, the time period in which the staff get training almost full-time at the partner institution in scope of Training Mobility and the days the staff has travelled. This daily/weekly grant amount includes expenses such as accommodation, food, communication, domestic travel and insurance without any additional payment.

  • The staff has to document his/her mobility with participation certificate. No funding can be provided for the days on which no activity took place or the days for which there’s no certification of any academic/educational activity in collaboration with the partner institution.
  • The grant is paid for the days the staff has travelled as long as it is supported with travel documents and doesn’t last more than 2 days.

Grant Calculation Examples:

The highest daily/weekly grant amount of a staff who;

-lectured at least 8 hours in Belgium

-carried out activities for 5 days within Teaching Mobility

-travelled for 2 days (departure and arrival days) is calculated over 7 days.

Grant funding for 7 days: 126*7= € 882

 

Travel Expenses:

The amount for travel expenses must be calculated using the distance calculator of the European Commission.

*You cannot receive any additional grant for visa expenses.
Salaries and Obligations Related to 2016/2017 Academic Year Staff Mobility

-The period of time the staff has been abroad in scope of Erasmus Staff Mobility is considered as a part of their standard duty and it doesn’t require any additional obligations.

-The staff keeps getting the salary paid in Turkey during this period.

-The staff can’t receive any daily or travel allowance from the home institution.

Additional funding for staff with disabilities

It is possible to give disabled staff benefiting from Erasmus Program an additional grant in order to meet their specific needs. The directorate must be informed in case of such situation.
